AGM Trends in 2024
Influences and changes by Jo Randle, CEO of Aspect AGM
As someone who’s delivered corporate AGMs for over 25 years, it struck me how much 2024 has felt like a turning point for many organisations. Reflecting on another busy season, it’s clear to me that there have been more influencing factors and more changes in the market than ever before.
Here are some of the AGM trends that stood out:
- AGM ‘roadshows’ that allow access to all shareholder geographies and reduce the reliance on London. This also provides a great opportunity for the Board to engage with employees at regional offices.
- AGMs being held in the company’s own office as opposed to an external meeting venue.
- Removing the hybrid AGM format to simplify, de-risk and cost-save.
- Holding a digital AGM to reach wider audiences in different international geographies, ensure a democratic experience for all, and add control to the uncontrollable.
- A reduction in the in-person attendance of the Board
We’ve created a handy infographic of our 2024 season to illustrate the effect these AGM trends have had on AGM attendance and engagement, which you can download here.
While the 2025 season may feel a while off, it’s never too early to start planning for your next Meeting. I’m especially excited about the opportunities we have to enhance the AGM experience for our clients and their shareholders and improve attendee engagement.
